Measurement

We have been working on capacity in math. We learned that capacity means "how much something can hold". We used various size containers to determine how much each would hold as well as how many it would take to fill a bucket. We have learned about cups, pints, quarts, and gallons and the equivalencies of each. The students have made a goal this week of being able to correctly identify the equivalencies of each capacity.

1 gallon=4 quarts=8 pints=16 cups
2 cups=1 pint
2 pints=1 quart
4 cups=1 quart

  1. This has been a great topic of study. I know, from experience, how important it is to understand capacity and equivalencies. Well done Mrs. Griswold and her 3rd Grade class.
